Once upon a time two friends, Dave & Lee, were living a wild reckless life of parties, and working in the outdoor pursuits industry.
“Do you still want to build a climbing wall?” Lee asked.
Dave looked him in the eye and said “Hell yeah, I’ll sell my house tomorrow!”
After a few years apart as they both left their jobs instructing, they bumped into each other again. By now, they were unfulfilled by the choices they had made. Life hadn’t quite taken them where they had hoped it would. “Do you still want to build a climbing wall?” Lee asked. Dave looked him in the eye and said “Hell yeah, I’ll sell my house tomorrow!”
And so, with faith in each other, and this wild dream of building an epic climbing wall from the ground up reignited, they were determined to make it happen.
A story of friendship that refused to succumb to mediocrity or give up on its dreams, willing to sacrifice everything for its success
Dave sold his house and everything in it, save for his speakers, amplifier and a sofa, plus a mattress to sleep on in the tiny back office of The Boardroom for two (2) years. Lee put in his life savings and lived round the back of the industrial unit in a rotten, sorry excuse for a caravan which rocked in the winds that howled inland off the Dee estuary. Not to mention the three (3) other friends who believed in the dream and threw caution into the wind, also investing their savings.
And so, The Boardroom Climbing Ltd was born.
it was a place where dreams could come true and passion could be rewarded
But that’s what makes this story, this fairy tale, so inspiring. A story of friendship that refused to succumb to mediocrity or give up on its dreams, willing to sacrifice everything for its success. And it quickly became clear that this wasn’t just any ordinary business. It was a place where dreams could come true and passion could be rewarded.
