Chef

40 hours per week.

Our kitchen team bake all our cakes, pickle all of our pickles, jam all our jams and strive to make everything we can in-house with good quality seasonal ingredients.  We are looking for an individual who has experience in professional kitchens preparing and serving good quality food to order, who has a willingness to learn the other aspects of our kitchen such as working with sourdough pizzas and creating baked goods.

Our kitchen team is small, and every member is encouraged to be creative and have input in our regularly changing menu and selection of bakes. The hours we work are social for a chef position; two consecutive days off in a row (including a weekend day) and the latest we finish at weekends is 6pm. Good working environment with lots of benefits for climbers (obviously), and none of the nonsense that comes with typical kitchen work: no unpaid overtime, no missing breaks and good flexibility in regard to holiday.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • At least 2 years of cooking experience in a professional kitchen: this role would suit an individual who is currently working at chef de partie/ senior chef de partie/ Junior Sous chef level.
  • Teamwork and the ability to remain calm during busy periods.
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene COSHH and HACCP principles.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Technical baking skills and ability to produce baked goods from recipes (training will be provided).
  • Experience working with pizza dough or sourdough bread (training will be provided).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to design menus and create high quality seasonal specials.
  • Experience taking responsibility for daily kitchen functions: completing paperwork, writing detailed prep lists, communicating issues with other team members, ordering stock and minimising wastage, maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment.

Reception

22 hours minimum

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual with high levels of customer service. As the first point of contact with customers this role is very important and has many facets. As such we need someone friendly, adaptable and reliable.

You will be joining a great team and we all look after each other whilst having the best time.

If you have some retail experience, have worked in hospitality or any other customer service role and would like to work with a group of passionate and awesome individuals, then we would like to hear from you.

Expectations/Job Roles

  • To provide exceptional customer service to all visitors of the wall.
  • To provide a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors.
  • Must have a flexible work schedule and be able to work Saturdays (8 hour shift). And either Wednesday & Thursday 2:15pm-10:15pm or Thursday & Friday 2:15pm-10:15pm. Minimum of 22 hours per week.
  • Be responsible for opening in the morning and if on a late closing down reception.
  • To deal with customer enquiries both face to face, over the telephone and via email.
  • Efficiently and effectively operate the tills, computerised booking system and all other POS systems.
  • To ensure the daily cleaning and safety checks of all areas of the wall are carried out according to recommended guidelines.
  • Assisting kitchen staff in the smooth operation of the café.
  • Cleaning, general housekeeping and dishwashing when required.
  • Greeting climbers and checking them in.
  • Making hot drinks including cappuccinos, lattes etc.
  • Creating invoices and emailing them out.
